Palau is very open to foreign trade which represents 123% of the GDP (World Bank, 2018). One of the characteristics of Palauan economy is the high dependency on imports of good and services (76% of the GDP). The main imported goods are machinery (24.3% of total imports value), food (22.9%), and mineral fuels (19.7%).
